This free asynchronous course is highly recommended for all students ages 11 and up. In this course, students will learn to eliminate distractions, concentrate for long periods of time, develop self discipline and impulse control, and visualize academic success. They will learn how to prepare a study area and form a study plan as well as techniques for getting organized, memorizing facts, taking notes, preparing for exams, managing time, reading for the main idea, studying for specific courses (history, math, English, and so on). This course is a required course for students taking guided study halls with Foundations Classical Academy. For students who lack neat penmanship, the penmanship/drawing courses are also highly recommended in tandem with this course as good penmanship and good note-taking (and the ability to read and benefit from those notes) go hand-in-hand. For students taking Guided Study Hall, “Study Skills” is a required course.
